How can I go about meeting single parents and why would I want to?

Meeting single parents can be hard however it is great. You can exchange babysitting, meals, meal ideas, clothes and anything else you can think of for free. I knew two single moms that lived together and worked alternating shifts so they wouldn’t have to pay for daycare.

Contact you local health unit because quite often they offer programs for parents. Single parent groups usually offer free babysitting so that you can take your children with you. If you have time attend local playgroups or other functions, you would be surprised how many single parents there are.

Another way to meet parents is to put an ad in a newspaper or website. There are lots of free websites that allow you to post ads for free. I have met several single parents this way. You can also browse other people’s ads and search for other parents.

Don’t limit yourself to single parents. I have met a lot of great two parent families or people without kids. Yes these people have a different outlook on life, but you would be amazed by the similarities that you have. One of my friends is a stay at home mom but we still switch services. My other good friend is ‘foot loose and fancy free’, but we still have great fun. She bakes for me or plays entertainer while I do groceries.

Just remember to keep your options open when meeting single parents. You never know whom you will meet or where you might meet them.
