The pros and cons of online dating

There is a lot of controversy about online dating. My advice is don't knock it till you have tried it.

I personally have tried it and know several other people that have tried it as well. Quite often after you become a single parent you are quite lonely and aren't quite sure how to meet people. There are lots of online dating sites that are free to join and are an excellent way to meet people.

Yes you have to be careful not to give out personal information because anyone can pretend to be whoever they want online. Whenever you meet someone you want to make sure that it is in a public place to minimize risk.

When you create a profile you want to be very selective in what information you put in your portfolio. For example I didn't put my picture on my profile because I didn't want people to be able to recognize me. Initially I found that I was embarrassed to be dating online however once I was more comfortable with the idea I put my picture up.

You can meet a lot of people on the internet and to have someone send you an email because they liked your profile can be a great increase to your self esteem. You don't have to necessarily meet the people you talk to; you can just keep the relationship strictly online and email each other.
